Who are we?

We are an owner operated school. We offer warm, friendly service coupled with professionalism and experience.

The Head teacher and owner, Philip Garden, qualified as a teacher in New Zealand and has taught in New Zealand, China and Japan. He has lived in Japan since 1993. He lives with his wife, daughter, pet dog and rabbit.

Philip is a veteran teacher with experience that includes teaching to Yochien classes, Elementary classes, Junior High Schools, High School, Medical College, Company classes, Hotel classes, and the Japanese Self Defense Forces.

The School

English Garden began in 2000 with a classroom in NishiKori. We moved to our current location in Nihonmatsu in 2005.

Our classrooms are bright, spacious and well equipped with the latest teaching technology.
